Introducing Stitch Up magazine
We have recently sent out the latest edition of our biannual magazine, Stitch Up, to our stitchers across all of our programmes. Encompassing cell groups, lone stitchers, workshop stitchers and apprentices on our Open The Gate post-release programme, the magazine plays a crucial role in our rehabilitation process.
Written exclusively for our stitcher community, the magazine contains articles about Fine Cell Work's recent activities relating to sales and events, stitching, design and production, our Battersea workshop and post-release opportunities. Including articles by stitchers, volunteers and staff, Stitch Up keeps everyone informed and creates a sense of community.
We publish poems, articles and testimonials by or about stitchers and their experiences with Fine Cell Work and provide responses to some of their feedback. Customer reviews are also featured in Stitch Up. They highlight our customers’ appreciation of the stitchers’ work and enable us to share the stitchers’ achievements with each other.
The magazine enables our stitchers to see where and how their products are sold – in museums, exhibitions, pop-up shops and at national events, which instils a sense of pride and belonging.
The feedback we receive from stitchers shows us how important the magazine is for them. They tell us that it helps alleviate feelings of isolation, boosts their sense of value and confidence in their work, inspires their craft and fosters a more hopeful outlook for life after release
Stitch Up is an integral part of our communications. It connects our stitchers with the outside world and gives them the hope and encouragement that comes from having a valued role in a skilled and supportive community.
