Help us to empower people in prison and prison leavers to redefine themselves on their journey towards a life free from crime by joining one of our volunteering opportunities.

The benefits of volunteering with Fine Cell Work

  • By volunteering with Fine Cell Work, you will become a vital part of our large community of volunteers across England & Wales.

  • You will be directly or indirectly supporting people in prison and prisoner leavers through their rehabilitation journeys.

  • As part of Fine Cell Work's volunteer community, you will be supported by our team of staff, building relationships and exchanging knowledge within a creative community.

We have a variety of volunteer opportunities - both for stitchers and non-stitchers.

We work with people in prison and prison leavers who are at different stages of their rehabilitation journey. As an inclusive organisation, we work with people from all walks of life and we do not discriminate on the basis of any previous offences. We meet people where they are at, helping them to look towards a brighter, crime-free future.

If you believe in second chances and want to be around like-minded individuals, then we may have an opportunity for you!

Volunteer opportunities for stitchers

If you have previous stitching or textiles experience - or are willing to learn - you may be interested to volunteer in our prison stitching groups, in our Battersea workshop, or working on commissions. We can talk to you about the level of stitching required for each role. We are a national charity and have opportunities across England and Wales.

Volunteer opportunities for non-stitchers

For people who are passionate about our mission, we have many volunteering opportunities that don't require any stitching ability or experience. These roles include mentoring people on our post-release programme, and supporting the charity at events, sales and pop-up locations.

Corporate volunteer opportunities

We are always interested to talk with companies and organisations who would like to offer practical, pro-bono support. This could be support for our social enterprise, by offering mentoring or training to people on our post-releases programme, or by assisting at events such as our annual Christmas reception and sale.

If you would like to talk to us about ways we might work together, please reach out to our Development Manager, Vani Krishnaswamy.

Ad-hoc volunteer opportunities

We understand that not everyone has a lot of time or resources to offer on a regular basis.

If you are a creative or a professional who specialises in support for prison leavers, and you would like to offer your knowledge on a pro-bono basis to priosn leavers on our post-release programme, please get in touch via email - we look at each offer of support on a case-by-case basis.
