Friends of Michaelhouse and Fine Cell Work Reception & Sale

Join Fine Cell Work for an evening reception at St. Michael's Church, where you will be able to shop a wide selection of our stitchers' exquisitely-crafted work, including cushions, tableware and giftware. Light refreshments will be provided, and speakers on the evening will include Reverend Canon Jutta Brueck, Vicar of Great St Mary's, and Victoria Gillies, Executive Director of Fine Cell Work, with more to be added.

Craftworks' Craft Really Works Showcase

Fine Cell Work are honoured to have been selected to take part in the Craft Really Works showcase at Craftworks' 2024 show in Shoreditch, running from 15th to 17th May as part of London Craft Week.

Curated by Jade Ilke & Designing Futures, Craft Really Works is a collection of projects and approaches from all parts of the UK that are focused on the many positive side effects of craft. Our 'Hope Is The Key' Cushion, stitched by hand in UK prisons, was designed to celebrate Fine Cell Work's 25th anniversary, and will be on display alongside a selection of our stitchers' work.

How To Be A Craft Activist Panel Talk

Fine Cell Work's Founding Director, Katy Emck, joins Jade Ilke, Director of Designing Futures, and a panel including Vanessa Marr, founder of Domestic Dusters, and Sarah P Corbett, founder of Craftivist Collective, to discuss how creativity and craft can be a gentle force for change.

Evening Talk: The Power of Stitching Inside and Out, with Tracy Chevalier

Join bestselling author Tracy Chevalier to hear how her work with Fine Cell Work, teaching prisoners how to sew, culminated in the beautiful Sleep Quilt that's currently on display as part of The Ruskin Collection: Hand, Head and Heart until Sunday 1st December 2024. Tracy will be introduced by Victoria Gillies, Executive Director of Fine Cell Work.
