COMMISSIONS

Personalised

Fine Cell Work can make wall hangings, dining chair seats, tapestry cushions to commemorate events, homes and pets, ring cushions or kneelers for weddings, or patchwork quilts to mark babies’ birth.

Designs may be serious or fun. Prices start at approximately £100 for a cushion measuring 35.5cm x 35.5cm (including feather pad), to £500 for a needlework rug and £1000 for double quilts

A simple christening cushion in which the baby’s name is worked into a design donated by Jasper Conran in a colourway of the customer’s choice costs approximately £150.

Fine Cell Work’s design team will work from sketches or photographs or develop a design specially for and with you. The piece will then be painstakingly hand-stitched by a prison inmate – man or woman - who has been trained to the highest level of embroidery

These examples show how dates and initials have been added to a classic needlepoint design cushions, the "David and Rosemary" cushion below celebrates a wedding anniversary, but we have also done anniversary designs or christening cushions to celebrate the birth of a daughter. Any colourway can be chosen.

We can also add names to quilts and incorporate much-loved fabrics in quilt designs.

Read what one FCW customer had to say in a letter to the stitcher about their recent commissioned work:

"Huge thanks for your work on the 'red tree' design cushion which was given to me by some friends recently. The inspiration for the design comes from a book called The Red Tree which all about the troubles and anxieties in life, but how, if we look hard enough, there is always hope... symbolically captured in the spirit of a red tree.

You have captured the spirit of the book in your embroidery, the work is exquisite, just beautiful and I would like to thank you so much for the care you have taken in producing my cushion. I hope that is was rewarding and enjoyable task for you. The cushion was given to me as a gift of thanks. It is something I will value for the rest of my life.

I pass on these thanks to you and whatever the difficulties of the present time, hope that you can feel valued - and that somewhere there is a red tree for you."
